Shelves
Plan - Build a Floating Display Shelf |
Attractive, floating wall shelves
appear to be solid pieces of wood—but they're
actually hollow boxes made from 1/2" plywood.
This unique feature saves on material costs and
makes installation a snap! Just mount a cleat
(made from a 2x2) to the wall studs, slip a shelf
over it, and drive in screws from the top. It's
simple, but incredibly sturdy.

The molding that wraps around the shelves is simple
to make. We'll show you in four easy steps how
to use your table saw to make the cuts. We've
also included tips for creating an "ebonized"
finish. This project appeared in Workbench
magazine No. 293. |
