Potting
Bench Plan | With
the charm of a country cottage, this potting bench woodworking plan is
the perfect project for creating both an attractive and useful addition to your
garden.

We used a combination of cedar and composite decking to keep the bench looking
great from year to year. For the hardware, we used galvanized stainless-steel
fasteners. With these weather-resistant materials, there’s no need
to apply a finish. Over time, the bench will develop a
beautiful silver-gray color that complements the garden. This woodworking plan
appeared in Workbench magazine No. 283.

Any gardener will tell you that a good potting bench is essential to keeping a
garden looking its best. Usually however, it’s a strictly utilitarian item
that gets stuck in an old shed somewhere. That certainly won’t happen to
this potting bench. with its gracefully curved side and back panels, it has a
rustic charm that’s reminiscent of a country cottage, making it an extremely
attractive fixture in the garden. And the best part is you don’t have to
worry about rain, snow, and sun damaging the bench. Like a perennial plant, it
will withstand the weather and continue to look great from year to year. The key
to this longevity is the weather-resistant materials used in constructing the
bench.
