Roll-top desks are wonderful pieces of furniture. But
typically, they have one serious drawback -- they're TOO big.
This graceful Roll-Top Desk, on the other hand, will actually fit in any room
in your home without dominating the room. It has a traditional tambour door.
And inside is a desk organizer with pigeon holes.
TAMBOURS. With the exception of the tambour door,
this is a straightforward woodworking project. And we have included a special
four-page technique article about building tambours so that part of the project
will go as smoothly as the rest.
The Desk Organizer that fits inside the desk is build as a separate unit that
slides into place as the desk is assembled. And speaking of assembly, the only
hardware required for the project is a few woodscrews.
CONSTRUCTION. We made our Roll-Top Desk out of
solid cherry. The overall dimensions are 40-3/4" high x 43" wide x
24" deep.
This project was originally published in Woodsmith No. 103.
